SCLAD will begin construction of SCLAD Plaza during
January 2010
SCLAD
PLAZA
is a mixed-use four story with elevator development located at
201 E. 2nd Street, Hialeah, Florida. Its total area is 3,500 sq. ft.
and it is composed the new SCLAD Resource Center and 18 units of affordable,
barrier-free rental housing. It is replacing a dilapidated 30-year old single
family house. SCLAD PLAZA emulates the vision of its new neighborhood as
established by the City of Hialeah
recently revitalized Downtown Urban Center District. It is one concrete step in
addressing the serious need for decent, affordable housing. This project is to
be carried out by Spinal Cord Living-Assistance Development, Inc. (SCLAD), a
Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) certified at the City, County
and State Levels. SCLAD is a not for profit Florida corporation, classified as
Tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
SCLAD possesses the experience and qualifications to successfully
complete this project in a professionally and timely manner.
The
affordable housing portion of SCLAD Plaza will have 12 - 2 br/1 bath units
(1,064 sq. ft.) and 6 - 1 br/1 bath units (750 sq. ft.). The entire project is
designed to be barrier-free and totally usable by persons of all degrees of
ability; and, all dwelling units will be totally wheelchair accessible. Kitchens
will be equipped with a range, refrigerator and microwave oven. Every floor will
have a room with coin operated washer and dryer.
All units will be pre-wired for cable TV/high speed
internet service. Part of the roof will be designed and used as
garden/recreation area.
