        | Welcome to the SCLAD web site. Here you will learn about programs and services for people with disabilities. SCLAD offers direct and referral vocational, employment, housing and related support services. You can also access valuable links containing a wealth of disability related information.
MissionSCLAD's mission is to facilitate independent living, economic self-sufficiency and full community integration for people with disabilities by providing and coordinating support services; and, by generating employment and vocational opportunities and affordable barrier free housing.
Organizational ProfileSpinal Cord Living-Assistance Development, Inc. (SCLAD) was incorporated in Florida in June of 1985, as a non-profit corporation. In December of the same year it was recognized as a Charitable Tax Exempt Organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization was formed by a group of former rehabilitation patients, their families and friends. Through personal experience, they concluded that services leading to comprehensive rehabilitation for individuals with most significant disabilities are insufficient and difficult to locate after medical rehabilitation. Many are prevented from participating in social, cultural and recreational activities within their community; and, opportunities for economic self-sufficiency for this population are much less than for any other. SCLAD's Resource Center was formed to offer individuals with significant and most significant disabilities diverse services that foster independence, self-sufficiency and full community participation.
